BIOFEEDBACK THERAPY · AUSTIN, TEXAS
Your Body Is Already Sending You Signals
We Help You Learn To Listen
Biofeedback makes the invisible visible. Using real-time sensors, we show you exactly what your nervous system is doing, and train you to change it. No guesswork. No medication required. Just your own physiology, working in your favor.

Real-Time Feedback From Your Own Body
Biofeedback is a mind-body technique in which sensors attached to your body measure physiological signals, muscle tension, heart rate, breathing, brainwaves, and display that information back to you in real time. When you can see what your body is doing, you can learn to change it.
Think of it as a mirror for your nervous system. Most of us have no idea how much tension we carry, how erratic our breathing is under stress, or how far our heart rate drifts when anxious. Biofeedback makes all of it visible, so that nothing has to be guessed at.
At Austin Biofeedback, biofeedback is not a passive treatment done to you. It is a skill you develop with the guidance of a licensed clinician. Most people find that what they learn in sessions carries into daily life within weeks.
WHAT WE MEASURE
Muscle Tension (sEMG)
Surface electrodes detect electrical activity in muscles, revealing tension patterns you may not feel consciously
Heart Rate Variability (HRV)
The natural variation between heartbeats, a direct window into autonomic nervous system balance and stress resilience
Brainwave Activity (EEG)
When biofeedback targets the brain directly, it is called neurofeedback, or EEG biofeedback
Skin Conductance (EDA)
Sweat gland activity reflects emotional arousal and sympathetic activation, often before you are consciously aware of stress
Breathing Rate and Pattern
Shallow, fast, or irregular breathing feeds the stress response. Biofeedback shows you how to retrain it
Three Types Of Biofeedback We Offer
Biofeedback is the umbrella. Under it are several distinct tools, each targeting a different physiological system. Your clinician will determine which approach, or which combination, fits your history, your goals, and what your body is actually doing.
Muscle Tension Biofeedback
Surface electromyography (sEMG) sensors measure the electrical activity of your muscles, translating invisible tension into a signal you can see and learn to regulate. Most people are surprised by how much chronic tension they carry without realizing it.
WE USE IT FOR
-
Chronic stress and anxiety
-
Chronic pain support and jaw clenching
-
Neck, shoulder, and back tension patterns
-
Athletic performance and energy efficiency
-
Learning to release tension habits between sessions
Heart Rate Variability Training
HRV biofeedback trains you to breathe at your body's resonance frequency, a rate that maximizes the natural oscillation of your heart rate. This strengthens the connection between your heart and brain and builds genuine resilience to stress, rather than just managing it in the moment.
WE USE IT FOR
-
Chronic stress reactivity and hypervigilance
-
Anxiety and panic responses
-
Post-traumatic stress
-
Cardiovascular stress patterns
-
Performance under pressure (athletes, executives)
Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback is biofeedback for the brain. Sensors placed on the scalp read your brainwave patterns in real time, and the feedback signal rewards the brain for moving toward more efficient, flexible activity. Over time, the brain can learn to more efficiently shift towards more efficient patterns automatically.
WE USE IT FOR
-
ADHD and attention and focus challenges
-
Anxiety, depression, and mood regulation
-
Sleep difficulties
-
Trauma and PTSD
-
Peak performance and cognitive optimization
What to Expect
Every client begins with a clinical intake before any sensors are attached. We need to understand your history and goals before we can determine which type of biofeedback, or which combination, is right for you.
CLINICAL INTAKE
A full session with your clinician to understand your history, symptoms, and goals. This shapes everything that follows.
BASELINE ASSESSMENT
We measure your physiological baselines under rest and challenge conditions to see where your nervous system defaults.
CUSTOM TRAINING PLAN
Your clinician designs a protocol matched to what your body is actually doing, not a one-size approach.
TRAINING SESSIONS
50-minute sessions with a licensed clinician in the room, monitoring, adjusting, and guiding every step of the way.
Biofeedback for Athletes and High Performers
Elite performance is not just about training harder. It is about training smarter, recovering faster, and maintaining composure when it counts. Biofeedback gives athletes objective data about what their nervous system is doing, and tools to optimize it.
Muscle biofeedback identifies specific tension habits that waste energy and reduce efficiency, the kind of thing that does not show up on video analysis. HRV training builds the mental resilience that separates athletes who perform under pressure from those who tighten up.
WHAT ATHLETES TRAIN FOR
Energy Efficiency
Identifying and releasing tension habits that burn energy without contributing to performance, allowing more output with less effort.
Composure Under Pressure
HRV training builds the autonomic flexibility that allows faster recovery from arousal and clearer decision-making in high-stakes moments.
Recovery Optimization
HRV monitoring tracks recovery quality between sessions, allowing training load to be calibrated to your actual physiological state.
Focus and Mental Clarity
Neurofeedback trains the attentional networks that drive sustained focus, reducing mental fatigue during long training blocks or competition.
For over 45 years, Austin Biofeedback has been where art and science meet, and where real change begins.
Ready to Optimize?
The best way to find out is to start with a conversation. Your first step is a 50-minute clinical intake with your clinician, where we cover your history, your goals, and what you're hoping to change.
