Anxiety

Helping the Brain and Body Return to Calm

Anxiety can show up in many ways: racing thoughts, constant worry, muscle tension, difficulty relaxing, poor sleep, or a feeling that your nervous system is always “on.” For many people, anxiety is not simply psychological. It reflects how the brain and body’s stress systems are functioning.

At Austin Biofeedback and EEG Neurofeedback Center, we focus on helping the brain and nervous system regain balance. Using qEEG brain mapping, we can evaluate patterns of brain activity that may contribute to anxiety, stress reactivity, and difficulty calming the mind.

This allows us to design personalized neurofeedback and biofeedback training that helps the brain and body learn healthier patterns of regulation. These patterns are not fixed, and they can be retrained.

When Neurofeedback May Help

Neurofeedback is a form of brain training that helps the brain regulate itself more effectively.

During training, sensors measure brainwave activity in real time and provide feedback that helps the brain move toward calmer and more balanced patterns. Over time, many people experience improvements such as:

• Reduced mental overactivity and rumination
• Improved ability to relax and shift out of stress mode
• Better sleep and recovery
• Greater emotional stability
• Improved focus and mental clarity

Many clients describe the process as helping their brain learn how to shift out of “high alert” and into a calmer, more stable state.

Not All Neurofeedback Is the Same

Many neurofeedback programs rely on a single system, standardized protocols, or automated brain map reports.

At Austin Biofeedback and EEG Neurofeedback Center, we take a more individualized and clinically guided approach.

Truly Personalized Neurofeedback

We use multiple neurofeedback and neuromodulation approaches and select the one that fits your brain, rather than forcing your brain to fit a single system.

Clinician-Guided QEEG Analysis

Your brain map is carefully reviewed and interpreted by an experienced clinician. We do not rely on automatically generated reports to determine your training plan.

Licensed and Board-Certified Care

All neurofeedback is provided by licensed therapists and BCIA-certified clinicians, ensuring your care is both clinically informed and technically precise.

Decades of Experience
With over 100 years of combined clinical experience, our team brings a level of depth and adaptability that newer or single-system clinics may not offer.

This level of personalization allows us to adjust training as your brain changes, supporting more effective and lasting results.

Supporting Both Brain

and Body

Because anxiety often involves both the brain and body, we take an integrative approach when helpful. Training may include additional tools, such as:

• Heart Rate Variability (HRV) biofeedback to improve stress resilience
• Muscle tension (EMG) biofeedback to reduce physical tension patterns
• Low Energy Neurofeedback (LENS) to gently support brain regulation
• Counseling or stress-management strategies

This integrated approach allows us to support both the brain and the body’s stress systems, helping clients build greater resilience and long-term stability.

When to Consider Neurofeedback for Anxiety

Neurofeedback and biofeedback may be helpful if you experience:

• chronic worry or rumination
• difficulty relaxing or “shutting off” the mind
• physical tension or stress symptoms
• poor sleep related to stress
• anxiety that has not responded fully to other treatments

Take the First Step

If anxiety has been interfering with your sleep, focus, or daily life, we invite you to schedule a consultation to learn whether qEEG brain mapping and neurofeedback may be helpful for you.
